ARTIST STATEMENT

Charlando con la historia, the title of this exhibition began with a dream. Large 1950s telephone receivers rise up from the ground appealing for a heart-to-heart conversation. I would not be who I am today if not for my parents’ hard work and determination to assure their children had engaging and meaningful lives. Regrettably, both my parents died when I was young. The exhibition serves as a charla (chat) with my parents and the historical events that helped shape my social/political consciousness.
