As Alexa LexMex Treviño closes this chapter of her RAÍCES Fellowship, her heart is both heavy and full.
Existir es Resistir has been more than an exhibition—it has been a journey of remembering, honoring, and standing in the power of identity and community.
This work was born from the resilience of Alexa’s community, guided by the voices of ancestors, and nourished by the love of the Mission—a place that continues to shape her. Each portrait in the exhibition serves as a heartbeat, a reflection of a collective spirit that refuses to fade.
To every individual who stood before her lens, who shared their story, their regalia, their essence—gracias. They are the soul of this work.
